Aditya Birla Health Insurance launches complementary coverages


NEW DELHI: Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co. Ltd. (ABHICL), a subsidiary of Aditya Birla Capital Limited, has launched ‘Health Add-ons’, a range of six unique additional covers that can be added to the plans’ existing indemnity. These add-ons can be used with existing plans from Activ Health, Activ Assure and Activ Care, the company said in a press release.

In recent times, investing in health insurance has become an important part of financial planning.

Mayank Bathwal, CEO of Aditya Birla Health Insurance, said: “…We have launched a set of add-on riders which can be added to our retail indemnity plans. The six new health supplements will provide additional protection to policyholders by making their health insurance policies more robust and comprehensive. Available at an affordable price, customers can now benefit from several advantages, such as health bonus protection, vaccine coverage, OPD teleconsultations, etc. »

The six new add-ons are: Future Secure, Cancer Hospitalization Booster, Vaccine Cover, Individual Accident, PED Wait Time Reduction and Tele-OPD Consultation. Key features of these products include:

1. Future secure add-on:

Non-Medical Expense Waiver – The rider covers the cost of non-medical items while hospitalized as a result of sickness or injury during the policy period.

Sum Insured Inflation Protection – Helps to further increase the sum insured of the base policy based on the inflation rate of the previous calendar year as inflation protection

No-claims bonus protector – Ensures that there will be no impact or reduction on the accrued “any no-claims bonus” on renewals, if the total claims paid in the previous policy year does not exceed 25% of the sum insured of the basic policy.

2. Cancer Hospitalization Booster:

The client will receive up to 100% of the additional sum insured of the basic policy for medical expenses incurred for hospitalization in the event of “specified severity cancer”. It also covers pre- and post-hospitalization expenses up to the sum insured of the basic policy on a reimbursement basis.

3. Vaccination coverage:

Customer will be able to obtain vaccination coverage to protect against any disease declared as pandemic or epidemic by World Health Organization (WHO) or Central Government or State Government

4. Personal accident:

Benefits in the event of accidental death and permanent total disability (100% of the insured capital) and part of the insured capital in the event of permanent partial disability, if the said event occurs within 12 months of the accident. It also offers a cumulative bonus of 5% per claim-free year, up to a maximum of 50% of the sum insured.

5. Reduced PED waiting period: If this top-up coverage is chosen at the start of the first policy with the insurer and they have accepted it, it will reduce the applicable waiting period for pre-existing conditions for claims related to pre-existing conditions at the chosen period and specified in the policy schedule/product benefits table.

Option 1: 4 years to 2 years

Option 2: 4 years to 1 year

Option 3: 3 years to 2 years

Option 4: 3 years to 1 year

6. OPD tele-consultation: Medically necessary consultations / e-consultation and/or teleconsultation will be provided by physicians within the Network Provider’s network on an outpatient basis regarding an illness, injury incurred or sustained during the period of insurance.

Available at very affordable premiums, customers can choose one or more additional coverages by paying an additional premium. The same additional cover is authorized with several basic policies, subject to subscription. However, health add-ons cannot be purchased in isolation or as a separate product, the company added.
