“We were forcibly taken to Surat, I tried to run away but was caught by Surat police. Despite no complications, doctors told me I had a seizure 300 to 350 police were watching us,” he said. .
“Before me, MP Prakash Abitkar tried to get away from them but he couldn’t. We learned about the plot against the MVA government as soon as we arrived at Surat Hotel,” Mr. Deshmukh.
Shortly after, the Eknath Shinde camp released photos of Nitin Deshmukh with other rebel MPs.
Notably, a total of 42 MPs from Maharashtra are present with Mr. Shinde while only 13 are with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and the Shiv Sena.
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut today said his party was ready to quit Maha Vikas Aghadi’s government if rebel MPs wanted to. After that, Congress called a meeting of its leaders today
“MPs should not communicate from Guwahati, they should come back to Mumbai and discuss with the Chief Minister. We are ready to consider leaving MVA if that is the will of all MPs but for that they have to come here and discuss it with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray,” Mr Raut said.
According to sources, the Congress is unhappy with the Shiv Sena leader’s statement and called a meeting at the Sahyadri guest house in this regard. Top Congress leaders including HK Patil, Balasaheb Thorat, Nana Patole and Ashok Chavan attend the meeting.
Speaking to ANI, Maharashtra Congress Leader Nana Patole said the party stood with Shiv Sena to prevent the BJP from gaining power in the state.
“We are with them (Shiv Sena) to stop BJP from coming to power. This game is happening thanks to ED… Congress is ready for the ground test. We are with MVA and we will stay. If they (Shiv Sena) want to form an alliance with anyone, we have no problem,” he said.
Sanjay Raut further claimed that 21 of the party MPs who are currently in Guwahati have contacted them and when they return to Mumbai they will be with the party.
“Uddhav Thackeray will return to Varsha very soon. 21 MPs from Guwahati have contacted us and when they return to Mumbai they will be with us,” he added.
