‘Cyberpunk 2077’ appears to be preparing its biggest patch in four months

Cyberpunk 2077 is starting to move regarding its next patch, widely speculated to be 1.5, with the game skipping 1.4 altogether and making a major patch to release alongside the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game. Or theoretically, maybe even before that.

Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Cyberpunk 2077’s build has now been updated to a new build for the first time since October, and the latest real The Cyberpunk 2077 patch received was 1.31 in mid-September, which among other things made reflective surfaces much better in-game.

In theory, I suppose it would be possible that we could get a smaller pre-patch before a major one that accompanies the PS5 and Series X release, but we’ll see. Here’s what CDPR said about its Q1 2022 plans for the patch and next-gen release:

“We are hard at work on the next-gen version of Cyberpunk, which is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2022, alongside another major update for all platforms,” CD Projekt Group President Adam Kiciński said in a statement. communicated in November 2021.

So this involves the big patch and the next-gen version are at the same time, which would make sense. For now, however, the only thing CDPR has commented on about this big new patch is to dismiss a leaked rumor about its contents, saying that at least some of it is “made up”, although some aspects were pulled from datamined files. in the game itself, which correctly predicted other past free DLCs. At a minimum (very minimum), I expect New Game Plus to launch alongside the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions, giving existing players a reason to come back to the game and try out the new version on those consoles. , even though they played the original converted version before. Other rumored free DLC additions include new weapons and gigs, as well as a few other datamined DLC names that are harder to identify (mirror? monster?).

The best guess for the big Cyberpunk 2077 patch right now is February, which at this point is only two weeks away, and this version update seems to lay the groundwork for that. I’d be a little surprised if that happens now and the patch isn’t until March, but we’ll have to see. As always, CDPR shares nothing on this, and its strategy has generally been to drop even major fixes with very little warning. But we’ll see if that happens this time around, or if they can have some sort of marketing campaign attached to it, given how important it’s supposed to be.
