Heavy snow continued across much of Japan on Wednesday as the country grappled with its worst cold spell of the season so far, with trains and vehicles stranded due to difficulties caused by the winter storms.
Transport was disrupted, with passengers trapped for hours on Tuesday on several trains on the Biwako Line and Kyoto Line due to snow and high winds, operator West Japan Railway said.
More than 10 vehicles were stopped on a national road in central Japan’s Fukui prefecture late Tuesday, with traffic coming to a halt over a stretch of 14 kilometers.
