Hillsborough detention deputy charged with drunk driving


A deputy from the Hillsborough County Detention Service has been arrested on charges of drunk driving, the sheriff’s office announced Thursday.

Deputy Nathan Weaver, 42, was arrested Wednesday by Clearwater police, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release late afternoon. According to prison booking records, he was arrested early Thursday morning.

Weaver, from Riverview, was assigned to the Department of Detention Services. He has been suspended without pay pending an internal investigation, the sheriff’s office said.

“We hold our employees to the same standard we expect the public to hold,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “Drunk driving is never an option, and this deputy’s bad decision is a big disappointment.”
