A potential visit by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to Kyiv, the capital of war-torn Ukraine, faces mounting security challenges and difficulties in keeping the itinerary and route a secret.
One possibility is that Kishida will visit Kiev in February, a year after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, the problem is a headache for relevant government officials.
During their conference call on January 6, Kishida was asked by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to visit Kiev. “I would like to consider a visit taking into account various circumstances,” Kishida told reporters after the phone calls.
