A man dies after being found shot on an overpass on Interstate 10 near Seventh Avenue, Phoenix police say.

A man has died after being found shot on a pedestrian overpass on Interstate 10 near Seventh Avenue early Thursday, Phoenix police say.

Officers responded to the area around 3:30 a.m. and were shown the whereabouts of the man by witnesses. After officers attempted to rescue the man, he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a statement.

His identity has not been revealed.

Detectives were processing the crime scene and speaking to witnesses Thursday morning. More information was expected later in the day, police said.
