Former NRL star Sam Burgess revealed on Tuesday’s episode of SAS Australia that he can’t see his children as much as he would like after his divorce.
And after that raw confession, in which he also admitted to hurting his family with his addiction issues, Sam’s ex-wife, Phoebe Burgess, shared a poignant post on Instagram about his co-parenting experience.
The journalist-turned-influencer, 32, shared a gallery of photos of herself playing with her son Billy, two, and daughter Poppy, four, at her property in Bowral, NSW, and wrote: “It’s where I choose to be, every day. Rain. Hail. Shine. ‘

Phoebe also shared a quote on motherhood, which read, “Motherhood is tough.

“Hearing that it’s not easy for anyone, maybe that’s what gets them through today.”

On Tuesday’s SAS Australia show, Sam admitted his drug addiction issues had caused pain to those close to him, including his mother Julie.
“I had a lot of personal issues, which prompted me to drink and take drugs,” he said.
‘[It] caused a lot of pain to my mother. She doesn’t deserve this, she’s a great mother, I love her to the end.
‘[It] caused pain to my three brothers, whom I love more than this world.

“And it’s my biggest pain in my life right now, that I’m letting my addictive personality take me the wrong way.”
The Burgesses parted ways in October 2019, after four tumultuous years of marriage.
Sam spent four weeks in a drug rehab center after being caught driving with traces of cocaine in his body on his way to pick up his children in February.
