Three dead in Oakland shooting, car accident


OAKLAND — Three people have died after a shooting and crash in West Oakland Friday night.

Police say the shooting happened shortly after 7 p.m. in the 2800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. way

When officers arrived, they found two people with fatal gunshot wounds, one of them in a car.

Investigators say it appears the car was trying to escape the gunfire, hitting and killing a cyclist who happened to be driving by.

All three of the deceased were men, according to Oakland Police Chief LeRonne Armstrong.

Police are still trying to figure out who started shooting and why.
