Toyota and Suzuki will produce the first hybrid vehicle for the Indian market


Suzuki and Toyota will jointly bring their first hybrid vehicle to the Indian market


Toyota Motor Corp and Suzuki Motor Corp announced on Friday that they will begin production of their first hybrid vehicle in India in August, under a partnership formed by the two Japanese automakers in 2017.

The hybrid sport utility vehicle (SUV), developed by Suzuki, will be manufactured at Toyota’s local plant in southern India. The SUV will be sold in India and exported to markets including Africa, the companies said in a statement.

The SUV’s powertrains will feature a mild hybrid developed by Suzuki and a powerful hybrid developed by Toyota.
