Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, whose country is hosting this year’s Group of Seven meeting, said on Wednesday he is considering visiting Ukraine, following an invitation from President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“At the moment nothing has been decided about my visit to Ukraine,” he told parliament.
“I will consider this in light of various circumstances and circumstances,” he added, without specifying further.
Tokyo has been working closely with its G7 allies to sanction Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and increase support for Kiev, even taking the rare step of offering refuge to those fleeing the conflict.
