The US Department of Justice is reportedly in the early stages of preparing an antitrust complaint against Apple. The Justice Department has not yet decided whether it will sue the US tech giant. The lawsuit is expected to be filed by the end of this year. The Justice Department opened a wide-ranging investigation into large digital technology companies into whether they engaged in anticompetitive practices in 2019, and Google was subsequently charged in October 2020.
According to a recent report from Politico, the US Department of Justice is in the early stages of preparing a potential antitrust complaint against US tech giant Apple. Citing a person with direct knowledge of the case, the report added that the department’s antitrust division hopes to file a lawsuit by the end of the year.
The US Department of Justice has not yet decided whether to sue Apple.
In July 2019, the US Department of Justice had said it was opening a wide-ranging investigation into major digital technology companies into whether they engage in anti-competitive practices.
Then, in October 2020, Google was sued by the Justice Department. The $1 trillion US tech giant (approximately Rs. 79,95,900 crore) was accused of illegally using its market power to hobble rivals.
