ROME (TSTIME) — The Vatican on Thursday released the itinerary for Pope Francis’ July 24-30 visit to Canada, saying he intends to continue the trip despite knee problems that forced him to cancel an equally difficult visit to Africa.

Francis must travel to Canada to apologize to the indigenous people for the abuses committed in the Catholic residential schools.

The itinerary includes several encounters with native groups, including a private meeting with survivors of schools in the remote area of Iqualuit, where Francis is to visit for a few hours on his way back to Rome on July 29.
