Word of the Day Friday, November 25 Hints, Clues and Answers Word of the Day #524

I am defeated. Thanksgiving can really take it out of you. A day of chaos and food prep followed by overeating and then lots and lots of cleaning up – although, to be honest, I didn’t do most of it. I helped here and there but mostly played host.

I wasn’t supposed to be the host, that’s the point. I would be a guest. But insane gusts of wind knocked out some of the power lines, and my parents’ house was out of power for most of the day. With no power, the Thanksgiving feast needed a new home, so everyone came here instead.

It all worked out and everyone had a good time, but it made a chaotic day even more chaotic and stressful. Worth it of course for such a delicious spread and fun times with family.

Anyway, let’s Wordle!

Today’s Wordle Fix (With Spoilers!)

The tip: Tom and Jerry were impersonated by a couple who contained this word.

The clue: This word begins with a vowel.

The answer:

That’s a bit of a difficult word. A bit trickier when the vowels are only front and back, and ‘Y’ can throw you in front of a loop. Still, four isn’t bad.

I chose tired for my first guess, because that’s how I feel. Bone-tired. Beaten up and ready to sleep! This left me with only 58 possible solutions remaining.

From here, flint reduced that number to just 7 and stoic to just one. Because I left out the second, third, and fourth boxes for “I,” and because so few words end in “I,” I was pretty sure it would be in the opening box. But the first word I wanted to use—furious—was a no go thanks tired.

Finally I came up with the idea itchy. I guess it’s a good thing it took me a while to get there. That means all the mosquitoes are elsewhere and I’m not thinking about the itch right now. Given how cold it has been, this makes sense. Winter is coming.
