India handed a 90-run defeat to New Zealand on Tuesday in the third and final ODI match to complete a series sweep. The match which took place at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore saw players like Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Shardul Thakur for India. Rohit Sharma (101 from 85 balls) and Shubman Gill (112 from 78 balls) batted centuries as India put 385 for 9 after New Zealand skipper Tom Latham won the toss and opted to field. In reply, the Blackcaps were bundled for 295 runs as Shardul and Kuldeep took three wickets each.
During the post-match presentation, a hilarious incident came to light where Yuzvendra Chahal was on the ground with his teammate Kuldeep Yadav engaged in banter. While the left arm spinner was talking to Mohammed Siraj, Chahal held Kuldeep’s ears from behind and shook his head.

With victory over New Zealand on Tuesday, India took first place in the ODI ranking, replacing England at the helm. India now has a rating point of 114 while the Three Lions have 113 rating points. Australia ranks third with a rating of 112. New Zealand and Pakistan rank fourth and fifth with a rating of 111 and 106 respectively.
Speaking of the ODI series between India and New Zealand, the side led by Rohit Sharma had gone past the guests by 12 runs in the opening match. In the second match, India recorded a dominant 8-wicket win to pre-seal the series.
